How to style your mini garden on a budget

I know entry level gardening so I'd probably skip the tips on growing plats, for now. What I'd like to share is how to style or beautify your garden.

1. Plan!
It may sound a little overkill but really every project should undergo this phase.  You should decide on what type of garden you want. Is it a herb garden? big?vertical?pocket? Define a starting point so you can direct your  efforts and not be overwhelmed by it. Concentrate on specific type of plants which will save you from purchasing things that will not add-up to the overall purpose and feel of your garden.

I wanted succulent/cacti garden; the mini version thus I know I will buy  small version of these plants. Naturally, I bought small planters for them too.
And because they're tiny, they can fit in the pallet which fits in our garage where they will have enough but not direct sunlight and will shelter them from the rain. See? it's worth the planning.
Pallet: 100php
Succulents/Cactus: 50-70php

2. Decide on a "theme."
Yes even gardens can have a theme.  It doesn't have to be highfalutin. Stick with two complimentary  colors or you may go with: Black and white, rustic, warm colors (or cool colors), pastel, ,, and so on .You can implement this theme into the planters and accessories to create a cohesive look.

If you're growing plants with colorful flowers, you can stick to one color for your planters. For herb garden, you may use black paint then use chalk to label them.

Since my plants are not flower bearing, I want to break the greens and inject colors. I used warm colors in my garden and placing coordinating colors per level.

3. Planters need not be real planters.
You can use anything that can hold soil like cup,  mug, bucket, bowl, or cans.

The green one is an actually a soup bowl sold in 3s at 20php at Novo. Steal eh?!

The hot pink bucket was bought in Divisoria at a party-needs store.
The super dainty cup and saucer was a bargain for 35php.

4. Use stones. Period.

5. Accessorize.
Hey even gardens need them! Use non-plant items which goes with your theme of choice. They simply add color and visual interest in your garden.
I bough this note holder for 15php. One of these days I might even clip my mantra for the week here .

Chalkboard I scored at Daiso for 88php.

5. Customize.
If you are someone like me whose calling is to create and make things bespoke then go ahead and inject your creativity.
The color of this planter doesn't go with my theme so,,, I burlapped it away.

I asked hubby to paint this clay planter white before coating it bright yellow. Look at this one haaaappy succulent. :)

The red circle was part of an old necklace which I haven't used  for a long time.  Tacked-it, loved it!

6. Personalize.
Inject a piece of your personality.  Something will always represent you. Curate. Create.

For my garden, I used my old handmade jewelries. Since I haven't been using these, it's nice to find a good use for them. Reuse. Recycle. Reduce.

7. Take a step back.
And then edit edit edit. It's yours so own it. ;)

Happy gardening! :)
Leave me a message if you have questions.
